Judging by the trailer, The Lazarus Effect will take us on a trip through all the best tropes of resurrecting the dead. This trailer brought to mind Pet Sematery, Flatliners, and 28 Days Later on first viewing. The Lazarus Effect, starring Olivia Wilde, was produced by Jason Blum, who has produced a dizzying array of supernatural and horror thrillers in just a few short years, including Paranormal Activity, Insidious, and The Purge.

I try not to be critical on the first trailer experience, but I have to point out, the final scene in the trailer, where a guy gets smushed in a metal cabinet, is a direct scene-theft from one of the Prom Night movies.

At any rate, check out the trailer and see what you think. The Lazarus Effect is due in theaters Febraury 27th, 2014.
